Slightly flipped this week. I’ll start with the game recaps. Same matchups as Week 2.

Game 1: Bench Warmers (lost 2 sets to none): Good team. They crushed us.

Game 2: Diggin Divas’ (lost 2 sets to none): Elite team. Crushed us even worse.

The reason this week’s recaps were so brief is because I wanted to talk about the overarching theme of this week’s games: I had to set. I am not a setter, nor am I good at stepping in if need be. The reason I become the back up setter is because I have the most competitive volleyball experience. My strengths on the court come from my hitting and defence and these are secondary and tertiary skills for a setter, only required when plays break down or when playing a good team who knows to play the first ball to the setter to create chaos on the court. Both these teams were good enough to know I was the only setter, and that I was not terrific at it. Our team (who it should be said was playing short, with only five players on the court) was all over the place and both teams played to exactly where we weren’t. They played smart and we couldn’t keep up. I’m cutting this week short because I just want to forget it ever happened.
