We lost. Badly.

Although hard fought, the odds were stacked up for us from the start. Only 4 of our players were available and the league does not allow drop-ins for playoffs. For all of you volleyball buffs, 6 players are usually seen on the court, and 4 is less than 6 (factchecked here). As such, we got crushed in every sense of the word. That said, we started the first set 6-0 on a terrific serving run from one of our players. They answered back with 13 points of their own, putting us down in the dumps. The rest of the set went back and forth but we were already so far in a deficit that nothing we did really mattered. They were a terrific team and they deserved to win.

As a result of us losing the first game, we were awarded a second game in consolation just to play around with another collection of losers. Since we already lost, we were allowed to put one of our extra players (who had not registered this semester) in to set for us, which will end up being beneficial to us next semester because he will be our starting setter in the new year. It was good to get him acquainted with the team so we can start to figure out how each other plays and build some chemistry. Hopefully next time around we are more successful.

An anticlimactic overview of the season here. Some soul searching during the offseason…
